In August 2000, the band released their debut single ブルペン キャッチャーズ ドリーム and a year later, they released the mini-album 鳳.
The album 耳噛じる was released in 2002 and the CD jacket was designed by Man*Ga Tarou, who has continued to design their covers since then. The single 延髄突き割る was then released and from it, the song "ROLLING1000tOON" was taken and used as the ending theme of the anime "Air Master", in 2003.
After the release of their 3rd album, 糞盤, in 2004, the band signed to the major label VAP. Their first released through VAP was the single ロック番狂わせ / ミノレバ☆ロック and this proceeded their first major album ロッキンポ殺し. Following this, the band embarked on a tour of Japan, "Rokkinpo Koroshi Tour", that covered 47 different places.
In 2005 the Maximum the Hormone radio program "Menkata Kotteri" began on bayfm. In addition to this, their song "アカギ", from the single ざわ・・・ざわ・・・ざ・・ざわ・・・・・・ざわ, was used as the ending theme to the anime "Toupai Densetsu Akagi ~ Yami ni mai furita tensai~", which ran from October 2005 to March 2006.
In 2006, the band’s fourth major released, the single 恋のメガラバ, was released and became a hit, reaching number 9 in the Oricon charts. This was great news for the band as it was the first time one of their releases had been in the Oricon top ten.
After the promotion from two singles, and the songs featured on television, Maximum the Hormone released their next album, ぶっ生き返す. The album was a record for the band, debuting at number five on the Oricon charts; their first full album to rank.
The year 2006 saw the band’s breakout into popular culture with the song "恋のメガラバ", reaching number nine on the Oricon charts during the summer of 2006; their first top-ten hit in Japan. The band had three of their songs featured in anime series; "What’s up, people?!" and "絶望ビリー" are featured as the opening and ending tracks, respectively, in the second season episodes of the Death Note anime series, and "アカギ" is featured as the ending theme for the Akagi anime series.
The year 2008 started off with the release of their new live DVD titled Deco Vs. Deco. The band also made their first overseas appearance in a short tour through the United States and Canada with Dropkick Murphys in March. A new single titled 爪爪爪/「F」 containing the songs "爪爪爪",「F」", and "Kill all the 394" has been announced. The disc is set to release at the start of their "爪爪爪" tour on July 16, 2008. The tour continues through October 16, 2008.
On October 24 it was announced that Daisuke would require surgery on his throat, causing the band to go on temporary hiatus while he recovers. The hiatus is set to start in December and last for around three months.
On October 27th Maximum The Hormone made their first UK appearance supporting Enter Shikari at the Bournemouth BIC. They continue to tour with Enter Shikari until 3rd November, playing Exeter, Southampton, Folkestone, and finishing with 2 nights at the London Astoria.
Kill all the 394
マキシマム ザ ホルモン Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Leave it, leave it!
Go light the little fever!
Shish-ka-bob to ruin their mixing!
Mix it!
One little girl saved the night, yep!
It's gonna last!
Mix! suck suck suck suck suck suck!
Mix! suck suck suck suck suck!
Mix! suck suck suck suck suck suck!
Mix! suck suck suck suck suck!
Am-I-ax-eye?
Am I ax eye?
Am-I-ax-eye?
Half stout men to turn my table and call the mice!
Here comes my bait for you!
Attack a chop and sell whatever we own!
Throw me up, tour him, then bowl!
Reason of beer been sold out!
Sow the sack, ho!
Dough the deer!
It's fucked!
It's dead!
Jump on the commercial!
Can you please pass the wart and then... too late!
The fucker's died of a sock!
Kill all the mixing!
Kill all the mixing!
Kill all the mixing!
I don't wanna mix it!
Kill all the mixing!
(Mix it!)
Kill all the mixing!
Kill all the mixing!
I don't wanna mix it!
The lyrics of マキシマム ザ ホルモン's "Kill all the 394" are highly abstract, and the meaning of the words is left open to interpretation. However, the overall theme of the song seems to be a protest against the commercialization of art and the music industry. The lyrics suggest that the singer is struggling to create something original and meaningful, but they are constantly being held back by outside forces.
The opening lines of the song ("One timmer! Leave it, leave it! Go light the little fever!") seem to suggest that the singer is urging someone to take action and ignite a spark of creativity. The next line ("Shish-ka-bob to ruin their mixing! Mix it!") could be interpreted as a call to disrupt the established order and create something new.
The following lines are even more cryptic. The reference to a "little girl" could be a metaphor for art or creativity, which has the power to save the night (i.e. the music industry) and create lasting change. The repeated refrain of "Mix! suck suck suck suck suck!" is difficult to decipher, but it could be a sarcastic comment on the cookie-cutter nature of mainstream music.
As the song progresses, the lyrics become more chaotic and fragmented. Lines like "Here comes my bait for you! Attack a chop and sell whatever we own!" suggest a struggle for control over one's own art, as outside forces try to manipulate and exploit it for profit.
In the chorus, the singer makes their message clear: "Kill all the mixing! I don't wanna mix it!" This can be seen as a rejection of the homogenized, commercially-driven music that dominates the industry, and a call to create something more authentic and meaningful.
Overall, the lyrics of "Kill all the 394" are dense and difficult to interpret. However, they seem to suggest a passionate desire to break free from the constraints of the music industry and create something truly unique and meaningful.
