MONSTER
Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to レミオロメン's song "MONSTER" can be interpreted as a reflection on the inner struggles and conflicts within oneself. It begins by describing a river of self-questioning and self-answering, symbolizing introspection and introspective thoughts. The wind of prayer for peace is mentioned, indicating a desire for harmony and tranquility. The image of a child picking flowers and throwing them into their heart represents innocence and purity, as well as a desire to find solace and comfort within.
The lyrics then explore the consequences of having everything within reach, with a metaphorical reference to setting fire to crude oil. This suggests that excess and unlimited power can be destructive. The hope for salvation is expressed, with a plea for understanding from the listener. The presence of darkness and shadows within the heart is acknowledged, creating a feeling of vulnerability and a fear of breaking something valuable. The imagery of a desert and an iceberg island symbolize contrasting landscapes and desires, with the pursuit of answers leading to getting lost in the imaginary forest of imaginary numbers.
