The lyrics of "Lippy" by 倖田來未 portray a strong and confident attitude. The phrase "Lippy like a rude girl" emphasizes the singer's bold and outspoken nature. She's unapologetic for who she is and knows how to command attention ("誰でも惹かれちゃう spotlight"). She's in control of her own narrative and wants her voice to be heard ("あたしの speakers sound right").
The lyrics also touch upon the singer's internal struggle between being genuine and playing with appearances. She acknowledges that she can be misunderstood because of her strong personality ("悪い言葉ならそう down right"). Despite her assertiveness, there's a hint of shyness, showing a multi-dimensional personality ("だけどあたし Really very shy"). The atmosphere she creates is desirable, and she's willing to express herself openly ("いい感じの atmosphere, 言いたいなら right here").
In the following section, the singer refuses to be confined or restrained by societal expectations ("I don't know why 縛られたくもない"). She emphasizes the importance of individuality and finding personal meaning in life ("今が全てなの"). The repetition of "Lippy like a rude girl" reinforces her determination to embrace her true self, regardless of others' opinions or judgments. She resists conforming to the same standards and seeks to be independent ("同じ事は意味なし").
The second verse highlights the singer's defiance in the face of derogatory labels or criticism ("NO! アゲアシ取る気ね came back, またまた言われた 'Bitch, luck?'"). She points out the hypocrisy of those who claim she has changed ("変わったねと言うあんた") and wears the lens of judgment themselves ("かけたね色眼鏡 装着"). However, her self-confidence remains intact ("歪んじゃった羞恥心, 準備はできてるし").
Overall, "Lippy" is an anthem of self-empowerment and defiance, encouraging listeners to embrace their true selves, challenge societal norms, and embrace their unique personalities. It celebrates individuality and the courage to speak up, even if it means being labeled as a "rude girl."
