Show me もう一度だけ
Show me もう一度だけ
I want to smile again
Show you あの日の笑顔
The lyrics to Koda Kumi's song "m・a・z・e" depict a searching and longing for something, symbolized as a maze that the singer's heart is wandering through. The singer is looking for a door, a way out of this labyrinth of emotions and thoughts. They question why their voice cannot be heard, why their cries for help go unanswered. The mention of a previous connection that they can't let go of suggests a past relationship or experience that continues to haunt them. Despite the bitterness of this illusion, they still hold onto the sweet belief in it.
The plea to be saved from this maze and the darkness it represents shows a desperate desire for release, to be brought back to a previous state of being. The singer wants to be shown their true self that they have lost sight of, perhaps due to the walls they have built around their closed-off heart. They can feel the presence of the person they address in the song, sensing their intention and longing for their support. The question of whether their wish will reach beyond the walls, if the light will be visible, suggests a yearning for liberation and the courage to step forward into the unknown.
Overall, "m・a・z・e" captures the emotions of confusion, yearning, and a desire for freedom from the complexities of one's own heart. It reflects the struggles of searching for a way out of emotional turmoil and the hope for guidance and rediscovery of one's true self.
