People don't understand how amazing this game and sountrack are...

@Neliel Tu n thats the best part of a game

Neliel Tu

This and Xenosaga have such dark atmosphere.

Been playing this game for the first time in the leadup to Xenoblade 3 and the whole fight with Id at the excavation site was just so good. This song especially made it feel almost hypnotic but also terrifyingly intimidating. I only really got through because of Goddess Call tbh, what a fight.

@Ryan Ashfyre Returning to this thread to say I couldn't agree more with your thoughts on XB3. I played Gears in preparation for XB3 but ended up only appreciating the strengths of 3's loose inspiration more than what I had just played. A lot of its ideas feel either half-baked or are never elaborated upon (as a non-spoiler example, we still have no idea why Ouroboros even exist) so it's jarring to see it go from Gears, where absolutely everything of an unfinished six-game saga is fully explored, to the many forgotten Chekhov's Guns of XB3. I still enjoyed it, but I've found I've come back to reminisce on Gears a lot more.

@Yomi_Jeremy Without giving away any spoilers, XB3 feels like a spiritual successor to Gears, albeit an underwhelming one, IMO. Not to say that it isn't a good game (it absolutely is!), but it leans a little too hard into its own melodrama and takes itself too seriously for its own good.

Of course Xenogears had a serious story too, but it was the beautiful combination of that along w/ the often lighthearted and comedic moments ("Master, sir, did you just see my MAD SKILLZ!?") w/ its terrific cast that engrained it in people's minds. XB3, for all its strengths, just doesn't quite hit that perfect pitch.
