She was also one of the members of Avex special unit 金魚. Kayo auditioned in 2001 for the 5th generation of Morning Musume (モーニング娘。). She made it to the final 9, but was not chosen due to her lack of dancing skill. But then she was got signed to Avex's sub-label, avex mode, and begin training at the avex artist academy. In December 2003 she released her debut single, "瞳の中の迷宮, which was a minor hit on the Oricon chart. She followed that up with eight more singles before finally releasing her debut album, Dolce in March 2006. In 2007 she released her 2nd album, P♥P. By the end of 2007 her musical contract with Avex came to an end, and since then her singing career has been on hiatus.
