Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Baby, you're mine
Baby, you're mine
Baby, you're mine
Baby, you're mine
The lyrics to 大滝詠一's song 幸せな結末 speak of a love that the singer is hesitant to let go. The opening line describes the way the person he loves unties their hair, and how that action makes his heart flutter. He wants to claim this person as his own, and with each gesture that they make, he feels like they belong to him more and more. The singer goes so far as to say that he doesn't want to send this person home tonight: "他の誰でもなく 今夜君は僕のもの", translating to "nobody else, tonight you are mine".
The second verse describes how the person he loves puts up a brave face and hides their loneliness behind a smile. The singer can't help but keep their eyes on this person, as he doesn't want to miss a chance to comfort them. He says that he doesn't want to send them home tonight, because he doesn't want to risk losing them. The bridge of the song reminisces about the day they were wildly happy together, just the two of them, looking for their place in the world. The chorus then repeats the line "今夜君は僕のもの", bringing the song to a close.
