Not that Clearly though:
Look! the Kanmusu is fighting to that back to sea(Which is the IJN done in the WW2) and The Abyss is try to taken it(Which is the USN done in the WW2) but then they was in a war...and what you do in a war again? KILL EACH OTHER IN EVERY HORRIBLE WAY YOU CAN THINK OF!!! (Which both sides was doing in WW2)
War never changes...so it okay if you want to draw that conluction and that the anime as canon.
But here is something else worth thinking about
First is the girls hourly notice In the game:
One kanmusu have a smart phone, one of them have run deadline for her manga(Doujin) and other have the hooby to record late air anime. so what it suggest ?: It not WW2 anymore! in that universe or at least it(the war) already end due to those thing( smart phone,and recording module) are items that should only available if japan isnt have to recover form a nuke and let's not forget who is the one that inveted smart phone!
second is, the emeny..they may have arment of USAF but then....consider this:
-Their fire power is off the roof with guns as big as Yamato.
- Thier Accuarcy is as lengedary as if were fitted with German radars.
-They have tendercy of go France or go home with all-in massive defensive capability.
-and all of that in one ship!!
and third,
some of the latest event bosses are CLEARLY suggest that they are the sunken and corrupted version of the IJN ships. so far as they spoke in a ship-girl way(the aybss spoke in the different way) when you defeat them. some even preferences how they was sunk as shipgirl.
Also if you dont know the game is coming first then the anime so have anime is the main cannon is....well kinda not right
