I KNEW it couldn't be coincidence that Talbain's theme was my favorite back then. Thank you, Okugawa-san!

Okugawa's work on SFIII 3rd strike was genius. Way ahead of it's time. Still sounds modern to this day, almost 20 years later.

it does not...NOT AT ALL!in fact every single thing about it screams 90s (and thats why we love it).but one thing is for sure...it does not sound "modern".its mid 90s jungle/dnb and jazzy house,using soundfonts from 90s keyboard synths and ran through either an mpc3000 (or in some cases i can hear the distinct ring of an sp1200)...does is sound modern?NO.does it sound phenomenal?FUCK YEAH!best soundtrack ever made !

Doc Holiday

@Arkhitektz even 3rd strike? I also think New Generation and 2nd Impact sound very 90s, but 3rd Strike sounds diffferent to me

Arkhitektz

@Doc Holiday
3rd strike has more late 90s elements than its predecessors...and it sounds a bit more crisp and clean.but still...the late 90s were 20 years ago.whens the last time you heard the type of music 3rd strike has anywhere?

Doc Holiday

@Arkhitektz I've never heard music like 3rd strike, that's why I said it's ahead of it's time. Point it to me then 90's music that sounds like it...

And moreso, with SFV it's lacking that passion and ground work it barely can be equal towards. SF3 NG to TS is a display of mastery, and evolution. Which sadly is what SFV is sorely lacking, it has none of that passion, heart or self expression. Even four years on. It taps into the past with Arcade mode, however the music is hit and miss. When we know it has potential to grow, but is held back creative wise, and its a shame. Because SF3TS was essentially the series send off / goodbye.

With SFV it's grounded as the now, but 3 was the future. It's so weird how the 3 saga is better than the present. And i wish it had that influence that 3 contained, but it does not. I miss that sound style too. It just finds a balance, and can surprise you whether a newcomer or longtime fan
