Sachiko Kobayashi debuted with the 1964 single "Usotsuki Kamome" (ウソツキ鴎 lit. "Liar Common Gull") at the age of 10.
n 1979, her song "Omoide Sake (おもいで酒)" became the best seller of the year, winning the 21st Japan Record Awards, and causing her to be popular again. As a result, she was asked to take part in the illustrious annual end-of-year music show "Kōhaku Uta Gassen". After 1979, Sachiko Kobayashi became considered one of the most famous enka singers in Japan until now.

She reminisces about the vibrant orange flowers that she used to admire but now feels she has become nothing more than a cheap, blue flower. She once dreamed of blooming only for someone special, but fate has taken that away from her, and she is now caught in a cycle of having to entertain clients just to survive.
The chorus of the song is a plea to a potential client, asking if they could buy her for the night. She is drenched in rain, reflecting the sadness and hopelessness in her life.
