These lyrics are from the song "Sora to Kimi no Aida ni" by Kudo Shizuka. The song is about being there for someone who is going through a difficult time. The singer in the song offers to be a support system for the person they're singing to, saying that when they cry, they'll be a branch on a poplar tree for them to lean on. However, they also acknowledge that they can't say or do anything to make up for what the person has gone through ('I can't pretend to know what it's like to be alone'). The singer knows the identity of the person who hurt their loved one and are still hurt by that memory, but they won't let that stop them from helping. The chorus of the song expresses the idea that the rain keeps falling between the person the singer is trying to help and the sky, but they promise to always be there regardless of how much the rain gets in their way.
