Overall Meaning

These lyrics are about the Rias coastlines of the Tohoku region in Japan. The singer is pouring alcohol alone, and with every refill, the Rias line in front of him becomes more and more immersed in tears. The song mentions passing through tunnels, and each time the singer does this, the white sails on the sea turn into seagulls, seemingly a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life. When the singer contemplates Three-Mile, he recalls a time in a fisherman's house where he was convinced to get married. He wonders where the dream of that day has gone. Looking out to sea, the singer sees seagulls fleeing in one direction, and the sound of a distant whistle and snowfall inspire him to tell the children of the town.
