Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The song 浪花なごり月 by 成世昌平 is about a young apprentice chef who leaves his hometown in search of adventure and ends up becoming a sailor. He entrusts the legacy and traditions of his family's restaurant to his fellow chefs, acknowledging their younger and sharper skills with the knife. As he sets off into the horizon, he recalls the image of the moon, the last time he saw it shining above his hometown, and muses about the fleeting nature of time and memory.

The lyrics describe the melancholic feeling of leaving behind loved ones and the familiar surroundings, the bittersweetness of embarking on a new journey, and the sense of uncertainty and longing that accompanies it. The main character feels foolish and naive for leaving, yet he knows deep down that he cannot ignore the call of the unknown.
