In a 2001 interview, influential alternative musician and producer Jim O'Rourke (known for his work with Sonic Youth, amongst others) picked a Togawa Jun album 20th Jun Togawa as one of his "best albums of the year."
Although her deeply un-commercial attitude kept her away from major "pop" success, she survived as an influential and respected underground music figure both solo and as the lead singer of Guernica (ゲルニカ) and Yapoos (ヤプーズ), and she recently released a new CD with her current project Jun Togawa Band (戸川純バンド) featuring elements of noise rock, disco, techno-pop, opera and various other genres, to favourable reviews from many underground music fans in Japan.

「お昼のドン」が分らない方のために、解説します。 明治時代には、高台から大砲で空砲を撃ち、時間を庶民に教えていたんです。 音は当然「ドン！」と聞こえました。 場所によって違ったようですが、日に何回か鳴らされたようです。 お昼に鳴らされるものが「お昼のドン」と呼ばれていました。 「昼ドン聞こえたからメシにしようか」 等の感じですね。 余談ですが、大阪城にはこの「ドン」に使用された大砲が保管展示されていますので 見学時に確認されるのも、良いと思います。

日常的に聞いてる昼のドンが恋愛の終わりを告げたと感じてしまうくらい精神的にも 弱りきってしまった女の心の叫びですよね。悲しく切なくて怖さを感じる歌です。

何故だろう、一度聴きだすと、幾度ともなく繰り返してしまう。戸川純を歌手として理解する人間は多くないが、なんとも言えない感情が溢れ出して来る。彼女を愛する感性は多くの人と異なるのだろうか？この表現が出来るアーティストは、他には誰もいない。
