Hiru no Tsuki
新居昭乃 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

音の無い真昼
風はただ明るい
少し眠たそうに花びらが揺れた

なにげないこの思い
ねえ、人はどんな言葉で呼んでいるの

白い砂の月 閉じ込めたはなしを
光降らすように聞かせてね そっと

いつか知る時がくるの? 胸の痛みを
そして今より優しくなるのね

あたたかいこの思い
ねえ、人はどんな名前で呼んでいるの

白い砂の月 まぶしくて見えない
遠い未来のこと聞かせてね そっと

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to 新居昭乃's song Hiru no Tsuki describe a quiet midday with no sound except for the gentle rustling of flower petals. The singer wonders about the simple feelings they have, questioning what others would call them. They long for the moon trapped in the white sand to tell its story and shine its light on them, hopefully easing their pain and making them kinder than they are now. The singer also wishes for someone to tell them about the far-off future with its obscured possibilities.

Overall, the lyrics of Hiru no Tsuki evoke a sense of peace and tranquility, tempered by a certain melancholy and a desire for greater knowledge and understanding. The imagery of the white sand moon and the gently swaying flowers lend a dreamlike quality to the song, while the singer's musings give it a grounding in reality. The longing for knowledge and growth is a universal one, and this song captures it beautifully.

Hiru no Tsuki—“Daytime Moon”
English Lyrics:

One soundless mid-day,
the wind was so cheerful.
Flower petals sway in the breeze
as if they were sleepy.

This serene feeling...
Tell me, what's the word people use for it?

Tell me a story that's locked away
in the white-sand moon.
Let me hear it
as gently as light shining down....

Will the time come? When you will know the pain in my heart?
Then you'd be able to be gentler than you are now.

Such a warm feeling...
Tell me, what's the name that people give to it?

Softly, let me hear
of the distant future,
so bright it can't be seen,
like a white-sand moon.

This is the actual translation. (You had to know it's much longer than that.)

The 90s was a golden age for anime

@checkoutmyyoutubepage

You got that right!

@KC_Smooth

Facts!

@ONInonymous

Funny, that's what my generation said about the 80s. But to be real, those two decades were the last of what was an incredible time for anime - where studios could literally say 'screw it, our budget is huge!' and do literally anything.

More unique and original shows came out in those twenty years than anything that's come out since, with perhaps the exception of the first ten years of the 2000s. After 2010 everything just...wasn't the same.

Everyone on my school bus thought I was weird for listening to this song on my CD player 20 years ago. They just didn't understand the beauty of it.

@LoreleiCatherine

It’s amazing how you can not hear a song for years and when you listen again you’re a happy little kid again singing along knowing every word even though it’s not in your native language. Such a beautiful song to this day ❤️❤️

@redpillcomedy8568

@BirdiePlaysYT
