The band formed in March, 1979. They released their first album ‘Nanban Torai’ 「南蛮渡来」 under the name ‘Ankokutairiku Jagatara’ 「暗黒大陸じゃがたら」 in 1982. After the release of their debut album, Edo Akemi experienced an apparent lapse in creativity to write new material, but the band continued to perform a number of energetic live shows. It has most of the spirit of the debut, though a little tamer and cleaned up studio production. それから was so slick sounding, it's nearly like a different band (not a bad thing, though!). I've got to hear the rest.

Probably either not enough demand or legal complications with the ownership, if I had to guess. There were certainly some out of print dry spells with big name British and American groups I can recall back in the day (King Crimson comes to mind). It doesn't surprise me, at first glance. You literally have half the album on your channel alone, so no biggie, lol. Though the liner notes would be a treat to read.

It's a crime that this album is currently out of print, even in Japan. I have tried on three separate trips there to locate a copy and have been unsuccessful so far, although I'm sure if you know where to look you can find it. How can one of the greatest Japanese albums ever be out of print?! I just don't understand it...

It being only four big songs is pretty exciting to see. I've been in a extended jam mood. Truth be told, the debut sounds like a mess (in a good way, of course haha).. I don't know a thing about its recording history, but it's overflowing with this punk-rock youth aesthetic and sloppiness, as if they nearly forgot to hit the big red record button in the first place, lol. スタイルが溢れているね

I honestly like "裸の王様" more than the debut. It's maybe my favorite Japanese album - I'm surprised these songs weren't on Youtube before. All three of the first 3 songs here are just killer. The debut is more interesting and diverse, but I think this album was where their songwriting and arrangements were the strongest. それから is definitely too slick although I recently gave it another try and warmed to it a little more, but "ニセ予言者ども” and "Robinson's Garden" have some really great stuff as well. Best Japanese band ever in my opinion.
