Matsumoto debuted in 1999 with the single "Namida no Chikara" but scored her first hit with her second single "Squall". In 2004, she formed the unit ZuTTO with Shinohara Tomoe for only one single. A year later, she married Something ELse member Imai Chihiro and gave birth to the couple's first kid in 2007.

Overall Meaning

The first two lines of "Solo" describe the feeling of waiting alone in the desert. The singer doesn't want to show this face to anyone. However, she is determined to eventually ride her fate wherever it takes her. She fears nothing and boldly reapplies her lipstick. The wind continues to blow, offering freedom no matter where it takes her. Even if she falls, she will not hurt herself as she clears the sand off of her knees.

The boundary between adulthood and childhood is a stifling time. Dreams can be very lonely, but by searching barefoot, one can find them. This is a time when we first come to know that we were always protected by someone, but by facing loneliness, we learn to take responsibility for ourselves. The path goes on, the skirt sways, and this moment will mark the beginning of the world. It's tempting to give in to sweet temptations, but it's important to feel like we are living under our own strength. In order to bring about real change, we must make our own decisions.
