shindeita asa ni tomurai no yuki ga furu
hagure inu no tooboe geta no otokishimu
inga no omosa mitsumete aruku
yami o dakishimeru janomeno kasa hitotsu
inochi no michi o yuku onna namida wa touni sutemashita

furimuita kawa ni toozakaru tabinohi ga
itteta tsuru wa ugokazu naita ame to kaze
hieta mizumo ni hotsuregami utsushi
namida sae misenai janomeno kasa hitotsu
urami no michi wo yuku onna kokoro wa touni sutemashita

giri mo nasake mo namida mo yume mo
kinou mo ashita mo en no nai kotoba

urami no kawa ni mi o yudane
onna wa touni sutemashita

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of 梶芽衣子 (Meiko Kaji)'s song 修羅の花 describe a woman who walks down the path of vengeance with tears in her eyes, carrying a single umbrella to embrace the darkness she is about to descend into. In the first verse, the snow falls on a morning where the woman had died inside, and the sound of a stray dog's howls and the clattering of her geta shoes echo in her ears. She stares at the weight of karma as she walks, holding on to her umbrella that hides her face from the world. To keep moving forward, she has abandoned her tears on the path of life.

In the second verse, the woman sees a crane that cries out silently, flowing downstream from the river where the day she left behind was still far away. Her hair is wet from the cold river, and she cannot even show her tears anymore. She has thrown everything, including her sense of duty, compassion, tears, and dreams, into the river of resentment. In the end, the woman throws away everything that she had ever possessed, to walk down the path of hatred.
