Her singing career as the unrivaled "Dance Queen" began in May 1987 with the release of her first album, New Season. She differed from many other female Idol Singers in Japan in that she wrote her own lyrics and some music for her albums. She also played drums on most of the tracks, as well as piano, clarinet, and other instruments. Her advertising jingles were hits into the mid 1990s in television commercials for such goods as chocolate and gin. She has also made numerous appearances on Japanese game and talent shows and is still a household name. In twelve years after her debut she released seventeen albums and created a cult following of otaku fanboys.
Some say that she displaced Yoko Oginome as the reigning "Dance Queen" of the mid to late 1980's. Yoko's singing career faded as Chisato's rose and endured far longer.

Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of "臭いものにはフタをしろ!!" by 森高千里 depict a conversation between the singer and a stranger who tries to create a connection with her over their love for rock 'n' roll. The lyrics portray the stranger as assertive and the singer as reserved, as the former attempts to convince the singer to embrace rock 'n' roll and dismiss her uptight attitude. The stranger claims to have watched the Rolling Stones ten times, and mocks the singer for not appreciating rock 'n' roll more. However, the singer asserts her independence and refuses to be patronized, insisting that she does not want to talk about the past and that she is just fine with being herself. The chorus emphasizes the importance of letting go and enjoying the moment by dancing to rock 'n' roll.
The song's lyrics reflect the spirit of rock 'n' roll, which prizes social rebellion, unbridled passion, and an anti-authoritarian ethos. The lyrics suggest that rock 'n' roll can free people from self-doubt and societal norms, encouraging them to take pride in their identities and to live in the present. However, the song also critiques the inherent exclusivity of rock culture, which often insists on certain styles, attitudes, and tastes. The singer's refusal to conform to the stranger's expectations echoes the experiences of many outsiders who feel excluded from rock 'n' roll's subculture.

riramakuri

@riramakuri
