I knew that I had to begin for myself

Despite my fears, I understood that I had to keep moving forward.

You taught me all about joy
I learned from you what true happiness is.

That was how, it begin
That was the start of my growth.

I lost so much and gained so much
As I went through my journey, I experienced both losses and gains.

Proof that I have grown so much in that time
The ups and downs of my journey have shown me how much I have matured.

Before I knew it I was on the right path
I suddenly realized that I was heading in the right direction.

I could understand the way I was heading
I could comprehend my journey and where it was taking me.

My past laid out behind my back
My past was behind me, and I was not going to let it hold me back anymore.

I was not always alone
I had people who supported me along the way.

But along I walk through this life with no one
Ultimately, I was responsible for my own journey and had to walk it alone.
