It is a sister group of Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46). The group was known as Toriizaka46 (鳥居坂46) until their debut, when the name was changed. On July 16, 2020, Keyakizaka46 live streamed a concert where they announced that the group would undergo a rebranding, on September 21, it was announced Sakurazaka46 (櫻坂46) will be their new name.

20 girls were selected for the first generation and were announced on August 21, 2015. On November 30, 2015 an "under group" was announced under the name of Hiragana Keyakizaka46 (けやき坂46) with Nagahama Neru as the only member. Auditions for more members were announced at the same time, and there are currently 20 members.

The group released their debut single, "サイレントマジョリティー (Silent Majority)" on April 6, 2016.

This was my very first Keyaki song that I became a fan of them. Now I can relate to the meaning of this song as they will rebrand. At first I was confused but I fully understand why they want to start a new. Just like how the song interprets, we meet people and say goodbye to them as we move on.

I fell in love with them on spring and will bid farewell to them on fall. This will forever be my favorite Keyakizaka46 song. Until we meet again, 欅坂46.

a friend just introduced me to this group (jpop actually) and so far i'm liking them. They're different from what i expected jpop would usually be, not sure if its bc generation gap but i didnt like the candy-overly-cutesy jpop i checked out before so i didnt dwell nor did stan any jgroup but Keyakizaka46 is different i like their cool concept, their outfits are awesome, dancing are sync & unique (holy shit the Eccentric one bruh), i like their vocals (aint too high or cringey cutesy) also their songs are such delight for the ears and has this feeling that makes you happy. I like how since this gg can't really show too much vocal talent(belts, runs, etc.), since their voices are to be synchronized most of the time, they show alot of talent through dance instead. Also, their concept and nogizaka's as well don't seem to be peddling to a gross target audience, especially with younger members around. Nogizaka seems to be more on the cute end too, showing to ppl that cute concepts can be done in good taste in the 4+g family.

Around this time in 2018, I watched this MV. This is my 1st Keyakizaka song/MV I've seen, and it become my reason why until now I love Keyakizaka46. How nostalgic. At first,
1. I saw the center-girl, Hirate Yurina. Whoa, she seem older than me. BUT hey, after I searched on my browser, she is much younger than me!!!! We are 3 years different. Very shocked with that fact haha. ANd what a great aura she has. I really love the scene on the stairs and her solo dance. Then,
2. I saw Koike Minami-chan as AKB's Mayuyu. "WHat the heck?!!! This thing is AKB or somewhat else?! Why 46??!", I thought. Haha, of course they are different. And then,
3. THE COSTUME on this MV is very elegant! And it's not the cutie-frilly-mini idol's costume. More like, the costume that covering much parts of their body, and yeah, the elegant one.

I saw this MV and the one from Garasu Wo Ware! playing on the screen of a Japanese restaurant I went to, and couldn’t get my eyes off of it, and for the rest of the evening I couldn’t stop thinking about it, because I couldn’t see the name of the group or song, and like 3 weeks have passed and I just found it now, and I’m so glad!!

Tbh, i wish keyaki would go back to this kind of concept once in a while. Its been my all-time favourite along with Fukyouwaon. The dance, outfits, song, melody, mv for Futari Saison are very nice and beautiful imo.

As an American fan of Keyakizaka46 I could see and feel the tension when members started leaving. Some of them leaving was understandable. Some of them not so much. I hope and yes, pray for all of them. I am a fan hard and true. I enjoy Keyakikitte Kakenai the most. This is where the girls become personable. If you have ever read my comments then you know who my favorites are. I will not name them here because I actually love them all! As I write this tears are rolling down my face because old people like me have a hard time with change. I hope that everyone that wants to return under the new name, can return. Even those who have left, if they chose to return I hope they can at least have a chance to do so. I seen many Hinatazaka46 members in this closing video also. The same goes out to these members too. I have grown to know them too. I love them also! I hope to see a variety show with the members of both groups and all the MC's Sawabe, Tsushida, Wakabayashi, and Kasuga! Good luck to all members no matter their choice!
