The original lineup consisted of Ayanokouji Shou (Show) on vocals and guitar, Saotome Hikaru (Hikaru) on bass and Shiratori Yukinojo (Yukki) on drums. They were soon joined by Hoshi Grandmarnier (Ranma) on guitar, then Saionji Hitomi (Tommy) also on guitar, at which point Show dropped his role of guitarist. With the final addition of Shiratori Shouchikubai (Matsu) as bassist, Hikaru developed his current role of dancer and the lineup of Kishidan that still exists today was complete.
The band professes to a Peter Pan complex and all claim to be eternal teenagers. Kishidan is famed for their extraordinary performances, frequently including both musical and non-musical solo performances by the members such as juggling, swordfighting and Elvis impersonations.
In early 2002, Kishidan appeared as themselves in episode 7 of the jdorama Kisarazu Cat's Eye and in 2003 in the Kisarazu Cat's Eye movie Nihon Series.

The song “Secret Love Story” by 氣志團 talks about a love story that took place during the winter season in a city where it never snows. The orange moonlight shines on the purple highway, while the midnight angel dances her heart out under the red smoke of the factory. Amidst all of this, the singer reminisces about his lover - the one with a pure white aura - and wishes her a Merry Christmas. He remembers the room that they used to share, and how he used to watch her sleep in it.
However, the song then shifts its focus into something serious as the lyrics delve into the unpredictability of life. The “green tree neon yellow” and “broken blue glass” are a sign of the unpredictability of life itself, and even God is considered whimsical in the song. Simply praying won’t make a miracle happen, and the singer says that he wants them to continue living without counting the things they have lost in life. If the time comes, he promises to confess his true feelings to her, bid goodbye to his secret love, and move on to a new phase of life.
The last verse expresses the wish to give back the love that the Father and Mother have given, and how they are praying for each other in all circumstances. Even if someone is not close, the singer says that he is determined to find her and express his love.
