Nagai Mariko debuted on the label Fun House in 1987 with the single "oh, Moonlight". Her boyish style of the 80s and 90s made her popular with such hits like "Miracle Girl" in 1989 and "ZUTTO" in 1990.
In 1993, she married ヒステリックママ (Hysteric Mama) guitarist Hirota Kooji and gave birth to the couple's first son three years later. In 1997, she changed labels and went to Toshiba EMI and later on BLUE TONGUE.

Currently, she is an resident of Sydney, Australia and manages a beauty parlor.
