Hamauzu's works are often reminiscent of Chopin, Ravel, and Debussy compositions. They frequently incorporate deliberate dissonance to provide an artistic and mood-setting effect. After pattern and harmony have set in, the elegance of the dissonance becomes apparent; the listener's perception of dissonance evolves into a perception of consonance integral to the music. Hamauzu composes music in a wide variety of styles, often employing multiple styles throughout a soundtrack. His compositions break barriers between musical genres, mixing classical marches, tango music, electronic ambience, instrumental solos, and jazz.
Hamauzu's start with Square Enix came by creating a small handful of tracks (along with other composers) for Front Mission: Gun Hazard (1996) and Tobal No. 1 (1996). Later collaborations include Final Fantasy X (2001) (with Nobuo Uematsu [[artist]植松伸夫] and Junya Nakano [[artist]仲野順也]) and Musashi: Samurai Legend (2005) (with Junya Nakano, and Takayuki Iwai & Yuki Iwai [[artist]岩井由紀 ] of Wavelink Zeal).
His solo works include Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon (1997), SaGa Frontier 2 (1999), UNLIMITED: SaGa (2002), and Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII (2006). Hamauzu provided the entire score of Final Fantasy XIII in 2009, and returned for its sequel, XIII-2 in 2011. Hamauzu has also produced arranged albums for a few of his works, including Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon ~Coi Vanni Gialli~ and Piano Pieces "SF2" Rhapsody on a Theme of SaGa Frontier 2. He also prepared the piano arrangements for Final Fantasy X Piano Collections and Yasunori Mitsuda (光田康典)'s Sailing to the World Piano Score. From SaGa Frontier 2 onward, Hamauzu has primarily worked closely with synthesizer operator Ryo Yamazaki (山崎良).
In addition to his solo and video game compositions, he is also co-leader of the band IMERUAT with vocalist Mina Sakai.

Things Aliacnce Alive does right:
RNG for Skills, Skill Stats, and Stat UPs are still a thing, but you get a form of EXP as Talent Points.
You spend Talent Points on turning RNG to your favor for Skill, Stat, Skill Stat UPs
You can even reduce the cost of SP for skills
You can even affect selling and buying prices, make it easier to do pre-empitves, make it harder to be ambushed, make it so that your SP auto-refills at the start of a battle if it's under a threshold.
There's collectibles dotted across the maps, one of them is acts as a do-over or PokeDoll where you can re-do a fight or run away from the fight, including bosses to just the moment before. The other collectible grants you access to OP weapons and armor, and powerful items.
Grinding for Talent seems tedius, unless you KNOW you can tank some hits and kite two or more monsters then fight them one after the other, granting a talent and solis(money) multiplyer, and increased rolls for loot and higher chances of getting rare loot, WHICH STACKS WITH THE RARE LOOT TALENT but I don't think the rare loot talent stacks if multiple characters have it.
Specialazation in Talent is the key here. Just like LoL you can have any character be moulded into any role you want, learning any skill you want. Want a bunch of Sigimancy casters? Sure. Want a bunch of ninjas weilding a bunch of mr.stabby's? You got it. The only limits are cannons and sourcery which are locked to other races.
You get maps from guilds, they are all uncovered at once, but there is no way to pull up a full map.
Guild support on the Overworld is great, and there is a bunch of shit for completeionists.
You can grind the fuck out of awakenings by having a the skill awakening talents and fighting something that can wipe your party out in 2-5 hits. HIT N RUN to survive. Running, when possible is %100 guaranteed, but the ones on the front lines take mortal damage that can only be healed by resting at INNs.
There are now weapon type weaknesses along with elemental weaknesses. You can equip accessories to build a resistance to stuff. Going to a dungeon with a bunch of water or grass creatures? Just equip accessories that grant a resistance!
Normal potions are overpowered, and heal more than healing signamancy, but healing signamancy leveled up in the support role quickly will cause it to get OP real quick too.
Skill ATK, DEF, SUPPORT I think determines the POWER of the skill when in a set role.
Say an attack has ATK 10, DEF 5, SUP 2
In Attack role, BASE POWER +25% Formation Bonus +Skill ATK Stat.
Running around naked has a risk-reward benefit.
The more stuff you equip, the heaver you become. This is new in AA.
I'm sure more powerful weapons, armor, and accessories will weigh more.
MORE WEIGHT = LESS SPEED
LESS WEIGHT = NINJA
Streaking Ninja wielding the Fist of the North Star! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA! MURA!
Also you can still save-scum with quicksave, loading a quicksave doesn't delete it.
Pressing L+R+START soft-resets the game and doesn't take a snpshot.
Pressing L+B or R+B allows you to quicksave.
Pressing L or R during a fight after selecting commands affects action speed, useful for grinding, the setting is remembered between fights too!
Do NOT let any party member's RIGHT HP hit 0 at any point! When a pary member's LEFT HP is 0 they are knocked out, and take mortal damage affecting the RIGHT HP. Monsters can still target a KO party member, and damage recieved is taken out on the RIGHT HP. If this his 0 on ANY PARTY MEMBER it's an instant GAME OVER!
A good way to look at it is this:
HP/MAX HP
Pain Tolerance/Mortal Wounds

It sucks how underrated this game was looked this year because this remains as one of the most memorable experiences I had this year compared to bigger triple AAA games. It deserves more attention. This is my GOTY even still.

Thanks for putting the ost up. Played the demo and enjoyed it a lot. Too bad it was so short.
OwlFanatic
This was a fun soundtrack to listen to. Especially the ending song, Alliance Alive. The guitar was so mellow and comforting. Wish the CD the game came with had it. Does anyone know where I can download it?

Sitting On Clouds OST

You can support Masashi Hamauzu and his awesome work in this game!
He actually has an overseas online shop where the OST is sold: http://mnmk-overseas.ocnk.net/
s07195
Yup! Well, it's a full soundtrack, not a Collector's Edition thing.
Seiga Kaku
Does this include the entire soundtrack? I know in the CD that came with the Legend of Legacy collectors edition, it only had 10 tracks out of 32, and I felt ripped off, so I'm naturally skeptical unless I hear otherwise
s07195
Yeah, I bought the OST for this game!
NullNoMore
Have you used them to buy stuff? That's a very good price, too, and I'd like to get it.
