twister
石元丈晴 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Brain wave, main wave
Psycho got a high kick
Collect and select
Show me your best set

Crystals, blisters
It's all over now
Psycho cane
You're so keen
I need more candy canes

Cold cake, cold break
Freak got a high kick
Mr. Twister
Moist with roistering

Stick it up
Take it up
Step aside and see the world
Effect has defects
"Take a bow to the moon
(Bow-wow to the moon)"

Morning rays, Hairspray Queens
Get on their way to their nests, the west
Honest, they once had a dream
Belles of society, in the shells of their unity
Cornet 'n spinet
The sound flows, follows till they're home

Dragged by the power of dreams
That power is yet unknown

Overall Meaning

In the first verse of 石元丈晴's song Twister, we see a series of non-sequitur lines that seem to be evoking chaos and confusion. The lines "Brain wave, main wave," and "Psycho got a high kick" seem to allude to the idea of a person who is unhinged or under the influence of some kind of outside force. The lines "Collect and select, show me your best set" may be a call to action, asking the listener to gather their best selves and put them on display. The lines "Crystals, blisters, it's all over now" may be a reference to the fleeting nature of life and the idea that everything comes to an end eventually. The lines "Psycho cane, you're so keen" may be a reference to the idea of addiction and the desire to keep chasing a high, no matter how destructive it may be.

The second verse of the song seems to take a somewhat different turn, with lines that evoke images of a gentler, more idyllic world. The lines "Morning rays, Hairspray Queens get on their way to their nests, the west" call to mind a picture of women going about their business in the early hours of the morning. The lines "Honest, they once had a dream, belles of society, in the shells of their unity" suggest that these women may have once had big aspirations for themselves, but have now been subsumed by the rigid expectations of their social class. The lines "Cornet 'n spinet, the sound flows, follows till they're home" allude to the idea that music has a transformative power, and that it can transport people from one place to another. The final line of the song, "dragged by the power of dreams, that power is yet unknown" suggests that there is a force at work that is larger than any individual, and that it is leading everyone along a path that they cannot fully comprehend.
