Apart from composing drama OST, Fukuyama is best known for his singing career in Japan. He has 24 singles and 10 studio albums. Squall, Sakura Zaka, Niji are few of the songs that have made particular oustanding marks in Masaharu's career. Good night was his breakout single which gained a lot more audiences to his music because of its tie-up with a J-drama.

Fukuyama mostly composes and writes lyrics of the songs in his albums. In a recent interview he said "In music, if you are producing your own songs, you will need to be working alone most of the time.
