From when she was little, Nishino learned English from eikaiwa schools, and went to America twice. She then was interested in various genres of music, including hip-hop, R&B and reggae. On the other hand, she also enjoyed traditional Japanese literature, and started singing Japanese folk songs. Her dream of becoming a singer started from junior high school. When she was 16 her mother secretly sent a demo tape of hers to the Miss Phoenix Audition (ミス・フェニックスオーディション).
In 2007, while preparing to be a singer, she was also studying English literature at university. At the time she met Australian duo Nervo, who offered Nishino a song called "I Don't Wanna Know" for use in her music project. Nishino rewrote the song's lyrics into Japanese herself, and re-titled it I.
In December 2007 her official site opened, and from that time onwards *I* ~Merry Christmas ver.~ was available as a digital download from several Japanese sites, including mora.jp. Interestingly, the original version of the song "I Don't Wanna Know" was available as a digital download on the American iTunes from New Years' Day onwards. The physical version was released two months later, on the 20th of February.

*Prologue*~Kirari~
西野カナ Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of 西野カナ's song *Prologue*~Kirari~ depicts a girl waking up before her alarm clock goes off and seeing the morning sun shining through her curtains. She quickly changes her clothes and rushes out of her house, eager to start her day. She values every moment and cannot even afford to blink because she is so in love with the person she keeps crossing paths with. Even though they have not exchanged names or talked, the sight of the person's smile is enough to make the girl fall in love with them. The song ends with the girl expressing her hope that she will be able to see this person again.
*Prologue*~Kirari~ is a love song with a unique twist as the two people in love have not even exchanged names. It describes a feeling that many people have experienced - a fondness for someone they have seen during their daily routine, but never gathered the courage to talk to. The song's melody, along with its lyrics, creates a sense of exhilaration and excitement that captures the feeling of falling in love, even in the absence of introductions.
