其它版本:旧信纸 (粤语)
Oh so blue I had a dream
My love woulde to me one summer night
Oh so true strange as it seems
And there you were my bird of paradise
From the ordinary to extraordinary
Something magic happening in my life
I can fly
When you touch me Im in paradise
In paradise, its paradise
I cant believe the way I feel tonight
When you love me Im in paradise
Its paradise to feel the way
I feel in your embrace
Take me away to paradise

Loving you has no design
No twists, no turns, no end to my desire
Soon I lose all sense of time
Alone with you my bird of paradise
All my wishes granted, you must be enchanted
Spread my wings, passion begins to rise
I can fly
When you touch me Im in paradise
In paradise, its paradise
I cant believe the way I feel tonight
When you love me Im in paradise
Its paradise to feel the way
I feel in your embrace
Take me away to paradise
When you touch me Im in paradise
In paradise, its paradise
I cant believe the way I feel tonight
When you love me Im in paradise
Its paradise to feel the way

I feel in your embrace
Take me away to paradise

Overall Meaning

In "Bird of Paradise," the singer, 譚詠麟 or Alan Tam, recounts a dream in which he meets a beautiful woman who becomes his "bird of paradise." This woman is extraordinary and brings magic into his life, transforming it from the ordinary to the extraordinary. Tam compares his newfound happiness to being able to fly, and his lover's touch brings him into paradise. He expresses that his love for her has no design, it’s natural and unforced, he has no expectations, no hidden agenda with her. Tam loses all sense of time and reality when he's with her and feels like his every desire is granted when he's with her. The lyrics suggest a feeling of total abandon, where Tam is free to experience his passion and release himself from the constraints of daily life.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the song is the concept of a "bird of paradise," which is a type of bird known for its vibrantly colored feathers and unique mating dances. The phrase "bird of paradise" has also been used to describe a type of flower known for its exotic appearance. Tam uses this idea to describe his lover, who is likewise exotic, rare, and beautiful, and capable of transporting him to a state of paradise. Another interesting thing to note is that "Bird of Paradise" was originally included in Tam's 1987 album, "FANTASY," and was later released in the Cantonese language in his album, "Half Asleep, Half Awake" in 1988.
