Yellow
酷玩(Coldplay) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Look at the stars,
Look how they shine for you,
And everything you do,
Yeah they were all yellow,

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And all the things you do
And it was called yellow

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful

You know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you

Oh what a thing to do
Cause you were all yellow

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
You know for you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry

It's true look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for...
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine for you
Look how they shine

Look at the stars look how they shine for you
And all the things that you do

Overall Meaning

The song "Yellow" by Coldplay presents a narrative of affection and the lengths that someone will go to express their love for someone. The song’s opening lines, “Look at the stars, Look how they shine for you/And everything you do, Yeah they were all yellow,” sets the tone of the song as a direct address to a special person. The stars in this case are a metaphor for how this person’s presence in the singer’s life has made everything bright, much like the color yellow.

The lyrics consistently mention the color yellow, which represents the brightness and joy that the singer feels around this person. The second verse offers a revelation about the nature of this person’s beauty. The line “Your skin, oh yeah your skin and bones turn into something beautiful,” suggests that the person’s physical appearance, which would conventionally be seen as imperfections (bones), is transformed to beauty when seen through the eyes of love. The singer declares their undying love with the line “For you, I'd bleed myself dry,” emphasizing their willingness to do anything for this person.

Overall, the lyrics of "Yellow" showcase Coldplay's remarkable ability to blend poetic verse with an upbeat melody, creating a song that is perfect for expressing raw and genuine emotions.

Producer: Hey, sorry Chris, we got no money for a music vid.
Chris: No problem, I'll just go to the beach and walk endlessly.

Very cool, Chris.

Samir Ahuja Damn rite and look at me SHINE!

@princexaine5340

It doesn't help that he literally didn't know where the song came from or what it means. So instead of finding meaning, it was easier just to put him on the beach. At least - that's what I think happened. Your thought was good too though.
