Jay Park - Metronome
Jay has said in a few different interviews that his new album will be something completely different and if Metronome is any indication it surely will be.
The content and meaning behind the song is all that remains of the Jay Park we've known and loved for the last six years. This is a totally new sound and pacing for his music. The song doesn't sound or feel like anything he's put out before largely due to his connection with AOMG. Gray, as a producer adds something special to the track. The beat is reminiscent of Jay's previous tracks like Know Your Name and Abandonded, but at the same time feels completely fresh.
The difference between previous Jay tracks and Metronome is most pleasantly jarring with the addition of Simon D to Jay's sound. Simon is a powerful rapper with a strong flow. That's his signature and with his husky voice matches the emotion of the song perfectly. Jay's worked heavily with rappers before like Dok2, for example, but Simon is far more mainstream in his music and Metronome benefits from his presence. Simon ' s rap is long though, a minute to be exact, which left a lot less Jay to be enjoyed. The first time I listened to the song I wondered if it wasn't Simon D's track featuring Jay and Gray.
The video is pretty cool, but it's dark and Jay is seen so little compared to his other videos I was a bit sad about that. When your ultimate bias puts out a new video...you do want to see them, amirite?
This is probably intentional as this track, more than anything, isn't about Jay Park. No, it's all about AOMG and that's important because the Jay we knew is probably not going to be putting out music like we're used to. I'm excited to see where this Jay whose leading AOMG goes and how he develops as an artist.

I can't wait for Jay to make English songs and promote in the U.S.
He could make it even bigger than he already has (not that he doesn't have an international fanbase already) and I will definitely buy his album!

This song is such a hidden gem. I used to listen to it on repeat in the highschool's library when it first came out haha. It still comes back to my mind from time to time and it's been six years. It's god tier kpop imo

I am really depressed by how underrated this song is. For me this a top-notch mv... Jays sexy dancing, Simon D's rap, Grays voice, the cinematography.. it really brings out some deep emotions!!! Truly one of the best songs I've heard recently. I love it.. you guys are my new heroes... Supporting AOMG ALL THE WAY...!!!

Jay Park and a few other artists are the few kpop artists that I know that can successfully deliver American swag into kpop music. This type of music is something you'd hear from.. Usher, Drake, or Jhene Aiko or someone else in the hip hop/rnb genre here in the States. I applaud him for that. Some artists kind of fail then they try to do american swag.
