Park and his family spent around two years in the States while he was in elementary, where he was exposed to a lot of Soul and R & B music. He is also a professed fan of Michael Jackson and claims that his journey in music began when he first heard Michael Jackson's Off the Wall album this lead him to want to become and idol. This lead to him auditioning for SM entertainment but getting rejected so he made his own entertainment company.His entertainment company JYP Entertainment Corporation is a South Korean multinational entertainment and record label founded in 1997 by J. Y. Park.It is one of the largest entertainment companies part of the Big3 in South Korea and operates as a record label, talent agency, music production company which also creates talent shows and international groups such as the Japanese group NiziU. He has managed artists such as Rain,Wonder girls and Got7 under his label. Some of the current artists under his company are Notable artists under the agency include the groups 2PM, Day6, Twice, Boy Story, Stray Kids, Itzy, NiziU, Xdinary Heroes and Nmixx.
