Run away for me
Run away for me
Run away for me
The lyrics of 여자친구's song "Room of Mirrors" delve into the theme of inner turmoil and emotional struggles in a relationship. The first stanza talks about trying to avoid facing the reflection of oneself in the mirror but inevitably coming face to face with it. This could symbolize the difficulty of confronting one's own flaws and vulnerabilities, and the tendency to shrink away from one's own reflection, perhaps out of a sense of shame or dissatisfaction.
The second stanza portrays a sense of weariness and resignation, as the singer feels overwhelmed by the constant cycle of shared experiences leading to feelings of inadequacy and sadness. The repetition of not wanting to see oneself anymore reflects a deep sense of self-rejection and disillusionment with the current state of affairs. The desire to escape from this cycle is palpable in these lines, hinting at a yearning for a fresh start or a new perspective.
In the third stanza, there is a plea to break free from the suffocating atmosphere of the relationship. The singer doesn't want the other person to come any closer, feeling engulfed by anxiety and uncertainty. The reference to four eyes and the image of the mirror may suggest a sense of distortion or confusion in perception, where the boundaries between oneself and the other person blur, leading to a growing sense of resentment and frustration.
The final stanza acknowledges the feeling of being trapped in a confined space, where the singer is the only one left to love the other person. The intense emotions of love and resentment intertwine as the singer runs towards the reflection in the mirror, only to be met with the same unchanging expression. The repeated plea to "Run away for me" encapsulates the conflicted emotions and desire for escape that permeate the song, ultimately speaking to the complexities and challenges inherent in relationships.
