Like You
후디 Lyrics

(Gray)

I was like you
And you were like me
I was like you
Yeah I was like you baby
I was like you
Yeah you were like me
And I was like you
Oh we were so crazy in love babe

Umm, I remember baby
I remember all the days yeah (yeah)

I was like you
And you were like me
I was like you
Yeah I was like you baby
I was like you
Yeah you were like me
And I was like you
Oh we were so crazy in love babe

Love

I was like you
And you were like me
I was like you
Yeah I was like you baby
I was like you
Yeah you were like me
And I was like you
Oh we were so crazy in love babe

I was like you
And you were like me
I was like you
Yeah I was like you baby
I was like you (like you baby)
Yeah you were like me
And I was like you
Oh we were so crazy in love babe

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Like You" by 후디 (Hwasa of MAMAMOO and rapper Woogie) recount the regret of looking back on a past relationship where both parties failed to communicate their true feelings. Gray's opening rap reflects on his previous behavior, admitting that he did not understand why he acted the way he did and wishes he had done things differently. The chorus repeats the phrase "I was like you, and you were like me," emphasizing the similarities between the two people involved in the relationship. However, the repetition also highlights the failure of both parties to express their true emotions and communicate effectively. In the end, the singer realizes that it is too late to reconcile and confesses his regret over the wasted time.

The song's themes of regret, missed opportunities, and painful longing for someone are universal, making it relatable to many people. The lyrics' pensive tone, combined with Hwasa's soulful voice and the song's atmospheric arrangement, create a melancholic and cathartic listening experience that many can connect with.

My thoughts on the storyline:

The curly haired girl is the past Hoody, the girl who was "like" her previous bf, and they broke each others' hearts. Whenever she thought about him, she would throw up (the milk).

Suddenly, a new her comes down from inside herself (the attic) and displaces her. This new her is more confident as she walks inside the trailer more confidently and she can also drink the milk now. This is the same person as earlier because the two did the same actions (covering both eyes, drinking milk, looking through the blinds, eating apples, and shining mirrors).

The old her is forced to go back to the attic and reflect on herself (looking at the mirror) and eating the apple.

The dancing girl was in front of the curly haired girl in the beginning and at the end of the video. She watched the dancing girl through the window, envying her freedom. Now, the dancing girl is in front of her, representing her finally being able to break free from her past and the memories.

Again, this is all speculation, but hope this helps!

Her voice suits American R&B so well!! I'm so happy she's on AOMG because it means she will come out with more music!! I don't even think she's had a full studio album yet so I hope she is finally able to release more than one track at a time! Also, her voice suits GRAY's beats so well. HOODY X AOMG is a match made in heaven!! Love this!!

@sojucord

AOMG is prevailing <3

@askbask

"Gray's song" is pushing it. She wrote and co-composed it. He produced it. And really well, that's right. But I sorta wish she produced herself like she did before joining.

@Nikynik345

Yeah your right, I should say GRAY beat, Gray makes amazing beats and mostly the people he gives them to write their own songs. HOODY is extremely talented and now that she has a group of people giving her real support she will hopefully blow up much bigger and be recognized for her talent!!

@tibetanization

Glad that Jay spot that American RnB vibe n now in AOMG :)

@sheilaasensi8181

Nikki Ohmygosh GRAY IS ALSO THE ONE WHO PRODUCED ALL I WANNA DO -- JAY PARK WHICH MADE ME DISCOVER HOODY!
