Lucky
Britney Spears Lyrics

This is a story about a girl named Lucky

Early morning, she wakes up
Knock, knock, knock on the door
It's time for make-up, perfect smile
It's you they're all waiting for
They go
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?
And they say

She's so lucky, she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night?

Lost in an image, in a dream
But there's no one there to wake her up
And the world is spinning, and she keeps on winning
But tell me what happens when it stops?
They go
Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?
And they say

She's so lucky, she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night? (Oh)

(I, I, yeah, oh) Whoa
Best actress, and the winner is Lucky (whoa)
(I, I, yeah, oh) Whoa
I'm Roger Johnson for Pop News
Standing outside the arena waiting for Lucky
Oh my God here she comes

Isn't she lovely, this Hollywood girl?

She is so lucky, but why does she cry?
If there is nothing missing in her life
Why do tears come at night?

And they say she's so lucky (so lucky), she's a star
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night?

(She is) She's so lucky (so lucky)
But she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking

If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night?

Overall Meaning

The song Lucky, sung by Britney Spears, is about a Hollywood girl named Lucky who seems to have it all, but is actually struggling with loneliness and emptiness in her life. The song reflects the dark side of fame and the toll it can take on one's mental and emotional well-being. Early in the morning, Lucky wakes up to get ready for yet another day of being a Hollywood star. While the world sees her as lovely and lucky, she often cries at night, feeling as if something is missing in her life.

Lucky is trapped in an image and a dream that is not real. Despite winning awards and being praised constantly, she is unable to escape the loneliness she feels inside. The line "But tell me what happens when it stops?" suggests that Lucky is aware that fame is a fleeting experience and wonders what will happen when no one cares about her anymore.

The song is a commentary on the dark side of fame and the toll it can take on a person's mental health. It serves as a reminder that fame and success do not always bring happiness and that it is important to focus on what truly matters in life.

I wouldn’t mind if Britney retired, she gave us over 20+ years of pure entertainment and of course timeless music... I just want her to be able to someday be free and live her life FOR HER. Shame on every single predator who took advantage of Her. #FREEBRITNEY

@bw2937

Well.... her producers did lol

@bw2937

@chile anyways so Who else then? Stylists, promoters etc?

@bw2937

@Jane • Like every popstar. Without these people you wouldn't even have know who she was. She's a product.

@bw2937

@Jane • What part was a lie? Tell me what part you thought was a lie so I can prove it wasn't, thanks.

@bw2937

@Jane • How would you know what other pop stars have been through? Also, do you work in the music industry and know how it operates? Well I do. And trust me, few 'artists' actually do anything. They are signed purely on looks and distinctive vocal tone so they stand out. Be a Max Martin fan like me if you love the songs. I love the music, I just get annoyed when people give the credit to the 'face'.

Britney deserves everything in the world, she's so precious. It's very devastating to see no one helped her at her worst.

@charryneleenecanoy8856

True..and even judged her at worst

@BrittneyG-tj5nq

Yes they did silly an that makes her even stronger cause it's harder to ask for help when people think she's a pretty face an rich and that'll solve all problems no she got help from people that uplifted her through those hardest times she was never by herself always had people that would be there for her through good an the bad an now she's more beautiful inside than even her outside an people will love her truly because of that

@BrittneyG-tj5nq

Only people that aren't perfect can now love her more an know they can be venerable around her an true without pretending to be someone that she wants them to be real friends an real relationship
