As a child you would wait
And watch from far away
But you always knew that you'd be the one
That work while they all play

In youth you'd lay
Awake at night and scheme
Of all the things that you would change
But it was just a dream!

Here we are, don't turn away now,
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now
We are the warriors that built this town
From dust.

Will come
When you'll have to rise
Above the best and prove yourself
Your spirit never dies!

Farewell, I've gone to take my throne above
But don't weep for me
'Cause this will be
The labor of my love

Here we are, don't turn away now
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now,
We are the warriors that built this town
From dust.

Here we are, don't turn away now
We are the warriors that built this town
Here we are, don't turn away now

We are the warriors that built this town
From dust

Overall Meaning

The song โ€œWarriorsโ€ by Imagine Dragons is about the idea of never giving up and always striving to be the best. The first two verses describe the mindset of a person who, since they were a child, knew they were meant for greatness. The first verse talks about how they knew they would have to work hard while others played, indicating that they were more focused and determined than their peers. The second verse talks about how they had big dreams growing up, but at the time, those dreams seemed impossible to achieve.

As the song progresses, the chorus repeats the line โ€œWe are the warriors that built this town from dustโ€, showing the individualโ€™s journey from humble beginnings to success. They, along with others who share the same attitude and determination, are the ones responsible for building up their town or community from nothing. The last verse, however, introduces themes of mortality and legacy, as the singer declares that they are leaving to take their โ€œthrone aboveโ€. This could be interpreted as either physical death, or simply moving on to a new journey in life or career. Regardless, they encourage the listener not to mourn their passing, because the work and love they put into building their community will remain even after they are gone.

You know, after all this time I still come back to this every now and again. It's still imo the best World's video Riot has made, and I don't just mean in terms of the song. This one captures the spirit of competition like no other. The others are about pros competing against each other, this one feels more relatable, it's a bunch of average joes that go from amateur to pro. The story in this MV is just unparred, it captures the struggle, the up and downs of competing. It's honestly such a moving and inspiring MV.

Same... Chills every time.

@deniss6654

I completely agree. Riots focused too much on eSports players instead of highlighting regular players.
