Dragonfly
Shaman's Harvest Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Maybe the sky is falling out around the babies
Maybe the world is gonna spin out of control
I don't care anymore
What if I quit today working for the man
Who said I have another, well maybe I can
'Cause it's all gonna end anyway
Tell me doctor what's the cure for the wicked mans blue
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly

When the sky, falls to sea
I won't mind, the cause in me
When the wind, blows through the trees
I walk by the dragonfly
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly

When I come, give me a beat
And take my advice, just let me be
When the moon turns black as night
We'll bathe in the light, oh dragonfly
Fly dragonfly
Don't take so long
I'll be here before you know
See you in my mind's eyes
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly
Fly dragonfly

Overall Meaning

The song "Dragonfly" by Shaman's Harvest describes the feeling of detachment from the world around us. The opening lines of the song suggest chaos and uncertainty, as the sky is falling out and the world is spinning out of control. However, the singer chooses to not care about the external forces that are out of their control. The lyrics then express a desire to quit working for someone else and to find their own way. The line "It's all gonna end anyway" hints at an acceptance of mortality and the impermanence of life. The singer then asks the question, "Tell me doctor what's the cure for the wicked mans blue", implying a search for a cure of depression or sadness.

The chorus of the song, "Fly dragonfly", is repeated throughout, which may symbolize the singer's desire for freedom and escape. The mention of a dragonfly also suggests rebirth or transformation, as dragonflies are known to undergo a metamorphosis process in their life cycle. The second verse describes a peaceful scene of wind blowing through trees, similar to a dragonfly hovering above a calm body of water. The lyrics suggest that the singer finds tranquility in this scenario and is unaffected if the sky falls to the sea. The song concludes with an invitation to the dragonfly to fly and the singer's readiness to join it.

Overall, "Dragonfly" is a song about finding inner peace and freedom in a chaotic world. The dragonfly represents a symbol of transformation and rebirth, which the singer desires. The lyrics suggest that the singer has reached a point where they no longer care about the chaos around them and are ready to embrace whatever comes next.

I'm with you on this one. They are fantastic. It could be that their style was different on prior albums. I think the last two are by far their best. I really love their unique style. They don't try to be something they are not.
