Revelation
Third Day Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My life,
Has led me down the road that's so uncertain
And now I am left alone and I am broken,
Trying to find my way,
Trying to find the faith that's gone
This time,
I know that you are holding all the answers
I'm tired of losing hope and taking chances,
On roads that never seem,
To be the ones that bring me home

Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I've been trying to find my way,
I haven't got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I've got nothing without You
I've got nothing without You

My life,
Has led me down this path that's ever winding
Through every twist and turn I'm always finding,
That I am lost again (I am lost again)
Tell me when this road will ever end

Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I've been trying to find my way,
I haven't got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I've got nothing without You
I've got nothing without You

I don't know where I can turn
Tell me when will I learn
Won't You show me where I need to go
Oh oh
Let me follow Your lead,
I know that it's the only way that I can get back home

Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I've been trying to find my way,
I haven't got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I've got nothing without You
I've got nothing without You

Oh, give me a revelation?

I've got nothing without You
I've got nothing without You

Overall Meaning

The song "Revelation" by Third Day speaks of the uncertainties and struggles of life and the search for faith and direction. The lyrics begin by expressing feelings of being lost and alone, with a desire to find a way and faith that seems to be missing. The writer recognizes that there must be some answers that he cannot seem to find on his own, and he is tired of taking chances on roads that only lead him astray. The chorus of the song calls out for a revelation, for guidance and insight, to show the way forward because "I've got nothing without You" (without faith).

The second verse continues the theme of being lost and uncertain, with the writer getting more and more frustrated and questioning when this endless road will end. He admits that he doesn't know where to turn or what to do, but he pleads for guidance and to follow the lead of a higher power. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the desperate need for divine intervention and revelation to find purpose, direction, and faith in life.

Not gonna lie, the longer you are a Christian, the better it gets. The more you see of God's grace, His mercy, His goodness, His Jesus, His love, His Holy Spirit, and everything else! Keep in there y'all, it's a marathon not a race. Don't lose sight of your prize, for you have been bought at a price. :)

@Ignasimp

Sadly this isn't everyone's experience. I've been a Christian for all my life (I'm 27) and with each year that happens the harder it gets to believe. Not that I don't believe God exists, I just find too many things that don't make sense to me about God. I have the impression we are so wrong about Him in some many ways we don't even know.

@@Ignasimp That's what the devil always says to me, but " Get thee behind me, Satan, for you are an offense unto me." Amen.

To anyone who finds this song and this comment.
If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, now is the time to ask Him to come into your heart to forgive your sins, that you shall not perish but , have everlasting life in Heaven with Him. Today is the day of your Salvation.

Amen 🙏❤🙏 When I was in the 2nd grade in 1965, (I'll be 65 in August) every Wednesday after school the bus would take whichever students wanted to go, to the little and only church in our community and it was a Baptist Church in Oregon, to learn about Jesus and the bible! Every week the teacher would hand out little slips of paper with a bible verse typed on it and we were supposed to take it home and memorize it and the following Wednesday we would recite it back to her and she gave us a small piece of candy! I remember the first verse she gave to us and it was John 3:16 and I had 3 sisters and I was the only one of us girls who would memorize the verses that we were given! I have drifted away from God many times throughout my life but I've always known that he is there and he has waited for me! You see I was in a very horrific vehicle accident that nobody should or could have lived through but I did by the Grace of God! Yes he should have taken me home that frightful and horrific day but he had a plan for me and I am still, after almost 3 years, trying to figure that out as to why he did not? God is Great and I have been blessed beyond measure with two awesome and amazing Sons and one very cool, outstanding, amazing, awesome, and handsome 14 year old Grandson Miles with the sniles! 🙏❣️🙏💯🏹💯 4:50

To all fellow Christians: We all walk a hard road. This song addresses this issue with a clear answer. Do not rely on yourself, but turn to God. Ask for His guidance and if you walk astray, turn back. We all need God, few seek Him, those that seek will always find. No matter the pain, the worry, the heartache, the stress, His love overcomes all. God Bless.
