- Badfinger Lyrics

Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out from my lonely room, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
I remember holding you while you sleep
Every day, I feel the tears that you weep
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
Looking out of my lonely room, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you
I remember finding out about you
Every day, my mind is all around you
Looking out of my lonely gloom, day after day
Bring it home, baby, make it soon
I give my love to you.
The lyrics of Badfinger's "Day After Day" express a sense of longing and desperation for love and companionship. The songwriter remembers discovering someone who they are deeply interested in and how they think about them all the time. The singer is consumed with the person, who seems to be elusive and out of reach. The first verse mentions a lonely room, highlighting the isolation and emptiness the songwriter feels while thinking about the person they are so attracted to. The chorus repeats the message that the singer wants to be with the person they love and are willing to give their all to make it happen.
The second verse expands on the loneliness mentioned in the first part of the song. The singer remembers holding the person they love, but also sensing their sadness and hurt. The repetition of "looking out of my lonely gloom" emphasizes the feelings of isolation and hopelessness the character is experiencing. The last two lines of each verse - "Bring it home, baby, make it soon / I give my love to you" - add urgency to the song and signify the singer's earnest desire to be with their beloved.
Overall, "Day After Day" portrays a longing for human connection and love. It touches on themes of loneliness, isolation, and desperation for romantic companionship. The repetition in the chorus adds to the song's sense of urgency and express the strong emotions the singer is feeling.

1971 was my Sophomore / Junior year in high school. This song was as fresh and classic then as it is now. George Harrison's guitar work is SO good. There is NOTHING about this song you can't love.
