Hello, hello, baby
You called, I can't hear a thing
I have got no service
In the club, you see, see
Wha-wha-what did you say?
Oh, you're breaking up on me
Sorry, I cannot hear you
I'm kinda busy

K-kinda busy
K-kinda busy
Sorry, I cannot hear you
I'm kinda busy

Just a second
It's my favorite song they're gonna play
And I cannot text you with
A drink in my hand, eh
You shoulda made some plans with me
You knew that I was free
And now you won't stop calling me
I'm kinda busy

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk anymore
I got my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
I'm busy, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh

Call all you want, but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club, and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Call all you want, but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
Out in the club, and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Boy, the way you blowin' up my phone
Won't make me leave no faster
Put my coat on faster
Leave my girls no faster
I shoulda left my phone at home
'Cause this is a disaster
Callin' like a collector
Sorry, I cannot answer

Not that I don't like you
I'm just at a party
And I am sick and tired
Of my phone ringin'
Sometimes I feel like
I live in Grand Central Station
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'Cause I'll be dancin'

'Cause I'll be dancin'
'Cause I'll be dancin'
Tonight I'm not takin' no calls
'Cause I'll be dancin'

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna think any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor
Stop callin', stop callin'
I don't wanna talk any more
I left my head and my heart on the dance floor

Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
I'm busy, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh
Stop telephonin' me
Eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh, eh

Can call all you want but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Call all you want but there's no one home
And you're not gonna reach my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

My telephone
M-m-my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

My telephone
M-m-my telephone
'Cause I'm out in the club and I'm sippin' that bub
And you're not gonna reach my telephone

Overall Meaning

"Telephone," a single by Lady Gaga featuring Beyoncé, is a song about a woman who is at a club and receives constant calls from a clingy boyfriend. The woman tells the boyfriend that she's busy and can't talk on the phone. The chorus which repeats several times states that she won’t be answering her phone no matter how many times he tries, and that he’s not going to reach her because she is busy sipping champagne and dancing in the club. In the sequel to her first music video, "Paparazzi," Lady Gaga poisons her boyfriend who is shown as a callous beau in this song, implying that "Telephone" is a continuation of that story. The video for "Telephone" features Lady Gaga and Beyonce staging a jailbreak, further driving the celebrity-Madonna narrative that runs throughout Gaga's work.

The lyrics themselves are about being free and having fun without someone crushing your groove. Lady Gaga’s sophisticated vocals combined with Beyoncé’s solid verses make the song one of the biggest hits of the late 2000s. Telephone was produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and Lady Gaga herself. It was released as a single by Streamline/Interscope Records, together with the album The Fame Monster in 2009.

I knew it was iconic the day the song came out. I was a young teen back then but had been a massive Gaga fan since Just Dance (still am today and almost 30).

Ever since she released her debuts, I always knew there was something special about her. Then... the day I saw she had collabed with Beyoncé, that's when I officially knew Gaga "had made it!"

Back then, there were a lot of one hit wonders (don't even get me started about the 90s lol 😅), and if you didn't prove yourself as 'more' that was all you were. I was soooo happy for gaga when she released this.
Likewise with "Videophone" with Beyoncé..

I'll always be a Litttle Monster. LOVE Gaga!
