Saigon

I rest and pray, motors break the silence of another day
My heart and soul lie broken, separated by the pain
Out in the fields, scenes of rage and anger
Guide these fists of steel
It seems reality has died behind this genocide

One by one, even now they come like
They've always done
Counting the rotors, when ever dream
Wakes with a scream, for now it's

Showtime, armed and ready
Goodnight Saigon
Stagefright, heart beating heavy
Goodnight Saigon

The bullets fly, one inside a chamber
Somewhere bears my name
The needle lies to keep the things I can't explain away
The senseless kill, now the main attraction
On a shameless bill
The only sanctuary is death, it's all that left from me now

So I stare into deep despair and it's always there
This is a time bomb, this is no obscene,
I can't believe that now it's

Showtime, armed and ready
Goodnight Saigon
Stagefright, heart beating heavy
Goodnight Saigon

Showtime, armed and ready
Goodnight Saigon

Stagefright, heart beating heavy
Goodnight Saigon

Overall Meaning

"Saigon" is a song by British rock band 10cc, released in 1985. The song is a reflection on the Vietnam War and its impact on those involved, particularly the soldiers who fought in it. The lyrics describe the horrors of war and the emotional toll it takes on those who experience it. The opening lines paint a picture of the quiet before the storm, as the lyrics "motors break the silence of another day" suggest the approach of helicopters or other military vehicles. The next lines reveal the aftermath of war, as the singer's "heart and soul lie broken" and he is left to deal with the pain and trauma of conflict.

The verses then shift to images of soldiers in combat, with "scenes of rage and anger" and "fists of steel" suggesting the brutality and violence of war. The lyrics "reality has died behind this genocide" underscore the idea that war destroys not only human life but also the fabric of society and the norms that govern it. The chorus, with its repeated refrain of "Goodnight Saigon," dramatizes the finality of war, as the soldiers confront the possibility of death on a daily basis.

Overall, "Saigon" is a powerful commentary on the tragedy of war and its long-lasting effects on those who experience it. The lyrics are a reminder of the human cost of conflict and the importance of peace and compassion in a world that too often values aggression and violence.

Hey it would be great if you got a chance to go to Can Thanh - Can Gio it’s a great seafood place to visit for a day trip. Takes about an hour 40 to get there by public bus or river boat. Let me know if you ever go.

I am going the 13th of August, I decided it like 3 weeks ago and since then I've been just eating vietnam content like a 5-a-day veggies. I've already have booked everything for the 16 days I'll be there and staying in district 3 in HCMC because I watched another video saying that it's the best place to stay if you love food and a nice neighborhood.
