I didn't think about my lady
I did not consider my partner's feelings when replying to the letter in the personals section.

Had fallen into the same old dull routine

So I wrote to the paper

I placed my ad in the personals section as well.

I am not skilled in writing poetry.

I thought it wasn't half bad
I believed my attempt at the ad was not completely terrible.

So I waited with high hopes
I anticipated a positive outcome after placing the ad.

And she walked in the place
When she entered the location where we had agreed to meet.

I knew her smile in an instant
I immediately recognized her smile upon seeing her.

I knew the curve of her face
I remembered the shape of her face clearly.

It was my own lovely lady
She was my partner whom I was trying to escape from.

And she said, 'Aw, it's you'
She expressed surprise and delight to see me there.

Then we laughed for a moment
We shared laughter together briefly.

And I said, 'I never knew'
I stated my surprise for not realizing my partner's interests and desires before.

'That you liked piña coladas
I was shocked to learn that she had an interest in piña coladas.

And getting caught in the rain
And enjoyed getting wet in the rain as well.

And the feel of the ocean
She also enjoyed the sensation of the ocean on her skin.

And the taste of champagne
She shared my appreciation for the taste of champagne.

You're the lady I've looked for
You are the partner I have been searching for.
