Supernaut
1000 Homo DJs Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I want to reach out and touch the sky
I want to touch the sun but I don't want to fly
I'm gonna climb up every mountain on the moon
And find the dish that runs away with the spoon

Supernaut
Supernaut
I've crossed the ocean, turned every bend
I found the crossing near a golden rainbow's end
I've been through magic and through life's reality
I've lived a thousand years it never bothered me

Bothered me
Supernaut
Bothered me
Supernaut

They all sing the same refrain
It's fun to take a trip, put acid in your veins

Twenty-five seconds
Twwenty seconds and counting
Fifteen seconds, guidence is internal
Twelve, eleven, ten, nine
Ignition sequence starts
Six, five, four, three, two, one

Got no religion, don't need no friends
Got all I want and I don't need to pretend

Don't try to reach me, 'cause I'd tear up your mind
I've seen the future and I've leave it behind

Overall Meaning

The song Supernaut by 1000 Homo DJs is about an individual who is not satisfied with their mundane life and wants to reach for the sky - quite literally. The lyrics, "I want to reach out and touch the sky, I want to touch the sun but I don't want to fly" portray the person's desire to achieve something extraordinary but not in the conventional way. They have been through the magic and reality of life, and although they have lived for a thousand years, it has never bothered them. The chorus then repeats, "Supernaut" portraying their strong desire and determination to achieve the impossible.

The song ends with the lyrics, "Got no religion, don't need no friends, got all I want and I don't need to pretend, don't try to reach me 'cause I'd tear up your mind, I've seen the future and I've left it behind." Back in the mid 90s, Q101 Radio in Chicago had a nightly call in song battle. 2 songs, vote for your fave. Supernaut won one night, and the next, and the next, and the next. I recall it staying for weeks before the station had to essentially retire it from competition.

@johannalewellyn3439

I am from Chicago and totally miss Q101!! Glad to hear someone else that was a fan!

@rjf.49047

They played the Reznor vocals. I had it recorded on a tape off the radio. I lived in southwestern michigan and could barely get the station in but was so happy when it came in

@Pullo83

Exactly what happened and it was like appointment radio every night to hear if Supernaut would keep winning lol. Same energy as watching young Mike Tyson fights.

@vinylsolution2522

Excellent

@Sickman979

I remember calling in and voting every night for that. Once they played me asking to play burn by nine inch nails.
