My dad used to play Peer Gynt for me whenever I was sick and couldn't fall asleep when I was little, I'm now 16 and I still love it. Along with classic rock, crooners, jazz, punk/metal, Doo-wop, folk, Hip Hop, Indie, and every other music genre possible, my dad raised me to it. Silje, oh wow! Your description of lunch breaks, being taken to another world through music, has given me a pinch of nostalgia. I live in the uk and lunch breaks were extremely boisterous……but i got through it by playing Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings, over and over in my head. My dad used to play it a lot, so it became apart of me. I wish I’d gone to your school and sat, communing silently with my fellow classmates, all of us sharing this beauty with no words.

A very long time ago I attended a Junior School on the outskirts of Swansea, Wales. Every lunch time we would run around the yard, kicking a ball, and generally expending energy, as youngsters do. But, sometimes it would be raining, so what to do ? The headmaster took it upon himself to purchase a record player, and some vinyl records. He would gather us all together in the school hall, and play us some classical music. Peer Gynt was amongst the jewels he introduced me to. Along with Swan Lake, the instruments of the orchestra music the title of which I forget, together with a host of others. The wise headmaster had opened a whole new world, for me, at least. Whenever I hear this piece my mind goes back to that school hall, and the ravishing sounds emanating from the magical record player.

My mum used to play Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies" (Nutcracker) every night before I went to sleep when I was in grade school ( back in the 50's). You guys have NO idea how long I have searched for this. The last 4 minutes was the soundtrack of a tv-show when I was like 7, and I loved the music! That was actually the reason i got into classical music 5-10 years ago, I went looking for that damn soundtrack but couldn't find it. I did however find a love for classical music, but finding this is like finding the gold at the end of the rainbow!

I can understand why Edvard Grieg needed absolute silence to compose each masterpiece. The beginning of this video, Morning Mood, is my favorite, as I find it so soothing and comforting, so much so that I posted it on my channel, too.

Henrik Ibsen, the brilliant playwright, deserves credit for recognizing Grieg's genius, asking him to compose the incidental music to his play, Peer Gynt.

The more that I listen to Grieg's music, the more shocking I find that so many people have never heard of him. His music deserves universal recognition and praise. As such, thanks so much for posting such beautiful and intriguing music by a magnificent, perfectionistic composer.

My father used to play this record all the time, growing up in the 1950’s. I haven’t heard it in so long, and it places you in an odd mood. Although I don’t personally listen to classical, it reminds me of my dad.

I grew up in the 50's and my mother listened to this and many other classical albums. My father played swing music from the 30's and 40's. They gave me an appreciation for artistry and talent in music.

My 7th-grade math and science teacher was a musician and lover of Classical music and taught my class this and many other pieces as works that we must have in our mental inventory of music. I will never forget this glorious work by Edvard Grieg, and I will never forget Mr. Ryan, a special teacher (who at the time i didn't like very much but I know what a good education he offered to me and my classmates)!

This is truly "Beautiful" classical music.
So calming and peaceful, yet intermittently inspiring and arousing.
I was enamored with classical music after I saw the movie The Music Lowers from 1970, it was all about Peter Tchaikovsky...I was only 20...lol...
