You've turned to stone, to water, to wine
The theories tell me to be shown
He seems to be operating on his own
Coming back to all the things you believe
Force-feed it now
Coming back to all the things you believe
It's coming apart at the seams
Coming back to all the things you believe
Force-feed it now
Coming back to all the things you believe
Force-feed it now
It's coming apart at the seams
Tighten the linkage a turn
Rest assured the sutures hold
No return, I can't just leave
Still too loose still to breathe
Coming back to all the things you believe
Force-feed it now
It's coming apart at the seams
Coming back to all the things you believe
Force-feed it now
It's coming apart at the seams
The lyrics for "Four Speed" by 13 Mg. appear to be quite enigmatic and poetic, with lots of interesting imagery used throughout. The opening lines, "Kill the priest who kills the prophet / You've turned to stone, to water, to wine" seem to suggest a kind of religious or spiritual theme and explore the idea of transformation and change. The next line, "The theories tell me to be shown / He seems to be operating on his own," is more nebulous, but could perhaps be seen as a comment on the human condition or the machinations of the universe.
The repetition of the lines "Coming back to all the things you believe / Force-feed it now" creates a sense of urgency, as though the singer is trying to instill their beliefs in someone else. The final lines, "Tighten the linkage a turn / Rest assured the sutures hold / No return, I can't just leave / Still too loose still to breathe" are again somewhat cryptic, but seem to touch on themes of bondage, restraint, and feeling trapped or constrained.
There's a lot to unpack in these lyrics, but the general feeling seems to be one of tension and unease, as though the singer is struggling to make sense of their world and their place in it. The musical accompaniment, which mixes distorted guitars with more melodic elements, helps to create a mood of dissonance and chaos that fits the lyrics well.
