Too Freaky

Think that you're safe?
Think you've got nothing but time this time?
This time it's a race
These sores only condemn
What scars understand
How's it going now?
How's it going now?
It's still too freaky
Too freaky
Too freaky
Treachery gains where superstitions wane
As models, we became contagious
It's still a skill, even in denial
There's more than one way to sting
These sores only condemn
What scars understand
These sores only condemn
Only condemn
How's it going now?
How's it going now?
How's it going now?
Still too freaky
Too freaky
Too freaky
The song "Too Freaky" by 13 Mg. seems to be about feeling invincible, but realizing that madness could affect anyone at any time. It speaks to the idea that we often think we are beyond the reach of those who may be struggling with mental health or other issues, yet we are never entirely safe. The chorus poses the question, "How's it going now?" possibly asking about the state of one's mental wellbeing. However, the response is always the same, "Still too freaky, too freaky, too freaky," suggesting that the struggle persists for many.
The verse "treachery gains where superstitions wane" suggests that as we move away from superstitions, there are still dangers that will sneak up on us. In this case, perhaps it is the danger of not taking mental health seriously. The line "as models, we became contagious" implies that our disregard for mental health can spread to others, much like a contagion. The last two lines "There's more than one way to sting, these sores only condemn, what scars understand" seems to suggest that while wounds may heal, the scars that remain will always serve as a reminder of past pain.
