Gomenasai
191_t.A.T.u. Lyrics

What I thought wasn't mine
In the light
Was one of a kind,
A precious pearl

When I wanted to cry
I couldn't cause I
Wasn't allowed

Gomen nasai for everything
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now

What I thought wasn't
So innocent
Was a delicate doll
Of porcelain

When I wanted to call you
And ask you for help
I stopped myself

Gomen nasai for everything
Gomen nasai, I know I let you down
Gomen nasai till the end
I never needed a friend
Like I do now

What I thought was a dream
An illusion
Was as real as it seemed
A privilege

When I wanted to tell you
I made a mistake
I walked away

Gomen nasai, for everything
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
I never needed a friend,
Like I do now

Gomen nasai, I let you down
Gomen nasai, Gomen nasai,
Gomen nasai till the end

I never needed a friend
Like I do now

Overall Meaning

The song "Gomenasai" by t.A.T.u. talks about a person who has made mistakes and is haunted by regrets for their actions. The first verse talks about an experience where the person mistakenly took something that didn't belong to them, but in the light they were able to see it was something of great value, like a precious pearl. Although they wanted to cry, they didn't because they were not allowed to show such emotions. The chorus consists of the person apologizing for everything they have done wrong and acknowledges that they have let others down. They express a desire for a friendship where they can find comfort and support.

The second verse starts with expressing that what they thought before was not innocent, just like a delicate doll made of porcelain. They also yearn for the help of someone whom they can call in times of need but stop themselves from doing so. The second chorus starts with the same apologies and proceeds to express how they never needed a friend until now. In the third verse, the person realizes that what they thought was just a dream or an illusion was actually a privilege as real as it seemed. They finally overcome their fear of revealing their mistakes and take the opportunity to apologize with the phrase "Gomenasai" meaning "I'm sorry" in Japanese.

I personally actually prefer the SML instrumental. Я твоя не первая is a good song but the instrumental sounds a bit amateur.
