Tell Me A Story
1927 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Everything screams your five-letter name.
Every sound and every single place.
All this reminds to you and all I dois writing another song.
Because I know so wellyou don't want to listen my words anymore.
But I wake up every morning and you are therelike a photograph that's printed in my head.
(It's so sad) I must forget you if I can't fall.
I convince myself, my love, I can't have you anymore.
You said me: Tell me a story I started Once upon a time
there was a boy with all his minds.
He was a man or maybe he was growing, he was in wrong with his girlfriend,
so she said This is the end, really the end! Now I'm trying to live these days.
Without this sadness on my face.

But it's hard because I sadly know that I'm losing her.
And I can't imagine all myself without her presence.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of 1927's song "Tell Me a Story" speak of lost love, heartache, and the deep longing to forget about the past and move on. The opening lines of the song, "Everything screams your five-letter name. Every sound and every single place," evoke a sense of how difficult it has been for the singer to move past his former lover.

He goes on to express his desire to write "another song" about his experience, as music seems to be the only outlet for his emotions. The line, "Because I know so well you don't want to listen my words anymore," suggests that the singer has attempted to reach out to his former partner but has been rebuffed.

The chorus of the song expresses the singer's frustration and sadness at not being able to let go of his feelings: "I must forget you if I can't fall. I convince myself, my love, I can't have you anymore." The verse about the story the ex-girlfriend requests depicts a past in which the singer was happy with his girlfriend but their relationship ultimately came to an end.

Overall, the song is a poignant expression of heartache and the struggle to move on in the face of loss and regret.

10 months and no one has commented. Such a shame these guys have been looked over, they were a great band in their day- music video is quite moving, the kids are grown up and the older folks are long gone. It really makes this songs message about people quite touching.
