Guilty
22.22 Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It could've been different if I sang the song so long ago, and now I'm feeling like I'm stuck in slow motion again.
But all I've got is time.Running around in circles, just to find that peace of mind.
And you know I'm gonna get what's mine.I've lost touch, too much sympathy.
Follow me, don't bother me.Fragments of each sentence representing anything I think.
And still I try to smile, and still I try to laugh. And still I'll never change, I'm stuck here studying the past.
So count me in. No, count me out, because it happened again.

It could've been. Should've been. Would've been different. It could've been.

It could've been different if the frgaments of each sentence were reminiscent of a sing-along song I sang so long ago.
And still I try to smile, and still I try to laugh, just to find that peace of mind.
And you know I'm gonna get what's mine.
So count me in.
No, count me out, because it happened again.
Forget about apologies, I'm not a sorry kid. So sing along with me. Same song we used to sing.

It could've been. Should've been. Would've been different. It could've been.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to 22.22's "Guilty" seem to convey a sense of regret and nostalgia for a time when things could have been different. The line "It could've been different if I sang the song so long ago" suggests that the singer may be reflecting on missed opportunities or moments they wish they could have altered. However, despite this sense of longing for change, the singer seems resigned to their current situation, feeling "stuck in slow motion again" and "studying the past." They search for peace of mind, but seem to be running in circles without finding it.

The repetition of the phrase "It could've been. Should've been. Would've been different" emphasizes the singer's regret and the sense that they are trapped in their current circumstances. However, they also express a determination to "get what's mine" and a refusal to apologize or be sorry for who they are. The suggestion to "sing along with me. Same song we used to sing" creates a feeling of community and shared experience, as if the singer and their listeners are all united by the same nostalgic longing for a simpler time.

Overall, the lyrics to "Guilty" seem to convey a complex mix of emotions, including regret, determination, nostalgia, and a search for peace of mind. The repetition of certain phrases and motifs throughout the song adds to the sense of circularity and the feeling of being trapped in a repeating cycle.

LYRICS
If we knew, then what we do now
We'd hold our hands and take a bow
Together we would stand our ground and fight
I remember the night we got drunk, I got sick on the subway
With your hands on my face said, it don't matter, babe
'Cause I'm always on your side
Life isn't pretty, we all get a little wrecked sometimes
If God's listening, people think you're out of your mind
Even if you believe it
Through all the hard times, I'm on your side
On your side
I'm on your side
On your side
I still wear your t-shirt out
All the ink is faded now
I wonder who you're dreaming of tonight
I remember the night when you packed all your bags in the doorway
Said, I don't wanna fight, you can leave, but remember I'm always
On your side
Life isn't pretty, we all get a little wrecked sometimes
If God's listening, people think you're out of your mind
Even if you believe it
Through all the hard times, I'm on your side
On your side
I'm on your side
On your side
On your side
Life isn't pretty, we all get a little wrecked sometimes
If God's listening, people think you're out of your mind
Even if you believe it
Through all the hard times, I'm on your side

If someone has a substance problem, try to help them before you yell, push them away, and walk out.
If you find someone overdosing, call an ambulance or drive them to a hospital.

@SomeGuy-qh6rw

You are better off turning them on their side, and waiting for an ambulance in one of these situations. REalistically, those drugs would knock you out, and then you'd probably start vomiting, and choke to death on your vomit. And if you are alone, and driving, you can't really safely pay attention to the other person as you drive.

If they have a fever and are burning up, getting them in a cold shower may stop them from getting brain damage though.
