Crawling Around in this mess we started
Put it all together just to pull it all apart
Thinking that we are clever
But we are never that smart
And nothing should ever have to be this hard
And I'm just waking up
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I don't know where
I don't even care 'cause I'm on my way
You're thinking that I might save you
I'm thinking that we both might drown
You're lighter than a feather
But you're sinking like a stone
Both of us together would be better off alone
And nothing should ever have to be this hard
And I'm just waking up
Now I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I'm on my way
I don't know where
I don't even care 'cause I'm on my way
We're running in circles
We're running out of breath
The lyrics to "On My Way" by 22 Jacks talk about a situation where two people find themselves in a mess they started, trying to put it all together but instead, they keep pulling it all apart. The singer seems to acknowledge that they are not as clever as they once thought, and nothing should ever be as hard as it is in their current situation. The message here is that no matter how smart you might think you are, sometimes things can spiral out of control, and you have to admit that you are not invincible.
The chorus repeats the phrase "I'm on my way," which suggests that the singer has reached a turning point in their life. They are finally waking up to the realization that things are not working, and they need to take control of their life before it's too late. The line "I don't even care 'cause I'm on my way" shows that the singer is not concerned about where they are going or what will happen next; they are just happy to be moving on from the current situation.
The second verse highlights the conflict between the two people. They are both struggling, but the singer realizes that they cannot help the other person as they might both drown together. It's a tough lesson to learn, but sometimes you have to let go of people who are weighing you down, even if it hurts. The song ends with the lines "We're running in circles, we're running out of breath," showing that the situation is becoming more and more desperate, and the singer has to take charge and move on.
