2Pac ft. Young Buck Chamillionaire Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Quit starin' at me like a infa red ****

Don't fall to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't fall to sleep
You can get ya cash on

Pictures of penny, sippin' my glass full of ****
Hands on my ****-automatic **** for pennies
Approach for contact 'cause I'm live I multiply
Soon as I open fire **** die wit' open eyes

Scare to take a nap, it's a trap a long maze
Dreamin' of gettin' stacks, makin' scratch the wrong way
What the song say we **** **** daily
Black out blow the crack out, my lyrics neva fail me

I inhale strong **** then release the stress
Deliver the bomb **** from the east to west
Like yay-yo **** pull out when I say so
Commence to **** **** copy it fatal

'Fficiently I delete then flee
The art of war
Livin' sucka free, get wit' me
**** don't sleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

I'm starin' through my rear view doin' 'bout 90
The petal to the metal so I can see what's behind me
Buckle up your seat belt eyes on the road
They know we ridin' dirty gotta play it how it go

They close down the projects the clubs been closed
And then they wonder why **** breakin' down O's
I'm a run away slave, ya get it **** off the chain
I got that thug life **** runnin' through my viens

And now they scare, they know that I been heaven sent
And yeah we know the **** comin' from the president
But look at us, we ain't got **** to lose
Feel like we ballin' if we got a new pair of tennis shoes

In the ghetto or better yet home sweet home
This is the land of the free but to me that's wrong
I'm on my way to the White House strapped wit' my ****
So don't fall asleep, come on ****

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

They say that the moe they hate ya the moe that it motivate ya
My mind set on grind my mental set on the paper
62 hours and countin' and I'm still awake
And they slippin' me sleepin' pills wit' the will I break

Broke **** always tellin' ya how to make ya cash adjust
So I just stop listenin' and now my cash is up
Red dotted the media 'cause they always mad at us
I don't see 'em tryin' to mediate when we get **** and ****

They just instigate and as soon as the get the tape
It's dropped from my **** life just as soon as they get the case
Personally I ain't trippin' on all this rappin' stuff
I'm takin' back my money counter 'cause it wasn't fast enough, yep

I got a couple problems and none of 'em is money
Just those that love me to pretend to love me and say they buddies
Sometimes I want to maneuver with the ****
To live like Freddie Krueger these nightmares just ain't as buddy

In meetings they always askin' what my passion is
And money talks so I always have words to answer this
I can't relax 'cause it's like I'm a fetti activist
Might see me on TV never a mattress

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep
Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Don't go to sleep
You can get ya cash on **** if ya peep

Other **** close they eyes seein' dreams in they sleep
But don't fall asleep

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Sleep" by 2Pac ft. Young Buck & Chamillionaire warn listeners against falling asleep and getting too comfortable in their lives. They suggest that one should always be alert and hustling to make money. The artists mention getting cash by any means necessary, whether it be by legal or illegal means. As they rap about their experiences coming up from poverty, they also acknowledge the struggles that come with making money the wrong way. The references to the government, media, and personal relationships also suggest that one should always be on guard and not trust anyone entirely. The use of explicit language and violent imagery emphasizes the harsh reality of life in their communities and the lengths they have to go to survive.

One interesting fact about this song is that it features two rising stars at the time: Young Buck and Chamillionaire. The song was recorded in 2006, a year before Chamillionaire's hit song "Ridin'" topped the charts. Another interesting fact is that this song was part of a posthumous 2Pac album, called "Pac's Life," which was released after his death in 1996. The album featured various guest artists and was put together using previously unreleased material. Additionally, the opening line "Quit starin' at me like a infa red ****" was a reference to another 2Pac song called "Holla at Me."

Musically, "Sleep" has a catchy beat with a strong bassline and electronic synths. The song is in the key of D# minor, with a tempo of 89 BPM. The chord progression is D#m - D#m/C# - B/C# - C#m throughout most of the song.

Overall, "Sleep" is a powerful and cautionary song that reflects the harsh realities of life in impoverished areas. It warns listeners to always be alert and hustling to make money, and to not get too comfortable and fall asleep. The graphic imagery and use of explicit language add to the intense and raw feel of the song.

Chords:
D#m - x68876
D#m/C# - x46876
B/C# - x4767x

The greatest artist to walk on American soil in fact the greatest artist to walk on this planet, today these thugs are dominant in America and the dominant culture in America is hip hop, the same African Americans the American government would look down upon labelling African Americans as criminals drug dealers rapist murderers and use cops as their tool to oppress and torture African Americans who were living in a gloomy atmosphere infested with dark clouds of injustice and oppression until there came the light 2pac shining from the horizon who used rap as a tool to communicate and educate the minds and hearts of black and white Americans and sharpen the minds of his African American brothers and sisters in Oder to brake those chains locked up in their brains and set them free from living in America and walking around with this fear in their hearts because of their skin colour and race inferiority, this spirit 2pac the greatest activist and the most talented artist to walk on American soil came with sparked the minds and hearts of African Americans in the 90s and the African Americans started grow rapidly and this little puppets reporters and journalists working for the mainstream media tried everything they could to assassinate the amazing character of this young artist 2pac but he was too sharp and smart for these cowards and they miserably failed from trying to the African Americans from growing, they even tried to assassinate 2pac himself but God is always on the side of those with a genuine sincere heart like 2pac, so God didn’t let the heart of these cowards get away with their cowardly tactics this time just like haw they got away with assassinating Malcom X but God didn’t let these cowards slip away with it the 2nd time and 2pac survived 5 gun shots to his body and head but God didn’t allow 2pac to die from these 5 deadly gunshot and 2pac came out straight back out the hospital after his recovery 10 times stronger and sharp then before he got shot, and it was just impossible for these cowards to stop this rapid growing of African Americans, this rapid growing of African Americans have USA their very first black president (a coward like Obama who hit the privilege) first time in the history of America. This is haw the greatest artist to walk on American soil over the power and strength of the American government and conquered that one and only powerful tool the mainstream media the American government have on their hands and they use it to control the ignorant minds and weak hearts of the human beings including the politicians all over the world and make all the money the American government makes off the European and other countries all around the world, and this hardcore working talented activists a young artist (young thug) conquered the Mainstream media and turn the tables around for the American government, today these same African Americans the American government would look down upon are looked up to throughout the world. This was the ambition the greatest artist to walk on American soil 2pac came with, and these little puppets reporters and the mainstream media couldn’t stop this young talented activist and a lyrical genius, today these thugs are dominant in America and the dominant culture in America is hip hop. The enslaved Africans American have become the bosses and the oppressed have become the masters of that nation. Malcom X planted this seed 2pac shakur=(being thankful to god) which grew really fast and overcome the power and strength of the American government and conquered the mainstream media. This is the seed Malcom X planted. 2pac shakur was too smart and too sharp for the American government and the mainstream media, a young talented activist the great artist to walk on American soil who overcome the strength and power of the American government and conquered the mainstream media at the age of 25 with the knowledge and wisdom God truly blessed 2pac with, and he learned the realism and originality of his amazing character from the greatest human being who ever lived and walked the face of this earth the messenger of God and the message he came with God words inspired 2pac shakur=(being thankful to god) to become the hero is in the eyes those living in the American and also African continent and others throughout the world.

They should have included the outro were Pac explains it's not about falling asleep in the physical form, it's about not falling asleep mentally to how the game go. It's a vital distinction. So all you kids hearing this thinking it's cool to stay up at night, that shit will destroy your health and your life in ways you can't imagine. Always sleep 7-8 minimum and stay awake intuitively, mentally, spiritually and don't become complacent thinking you have shit figured out - stay driven, stay learning, stay motivated to do what's right for your life. Peace 🕊
